Parents

We are committed to communicating with and engaging parents as partners in their children’s education. The district has adopted Parent Communications and Involvement Standards, which clearly describe expectations for parent communications and involvement at the district, school, classroom, and home levels. We are also committed to obtaining community resources for our school and invite all members of our community to assist us in the education of our students.

Parents have many opportunities to be involved at their children’s school site (for example, governance committees, special events, fundraising events, parent organizations, and in classrooms) and at the district level (for example, district councils/committees, Parent University, and special events). We encourage parents to support their children at home by making their expectations about school clear and creating a positive homework and learning environment.

Parents and guardians have opportunities to be involved at the San Diego Met by participating in the School Site Council, District Advisory Committee, college presentations, special events, fundraising events, parent organizations, learning plan meetings, exhibitions, and in classrooms. District-level involvement includes district councils and committees, and special events.

Student exhibitions and student led conferences (SLCs) are San Diego Met’s most influential and innovative methods of engaging families and community in our school. Exhibitions are held two times a year for each student; SLC's are held two times per year as well. Parents are provided with quarterly progress reports, as well as constant communication through their advisors, content teachers, Family Newsletters and the principal. Emails and phone calls are the most common way that we impart important schoolwide information and announcements.

If you want to get involved, please contact the school office at (619) 388-2299.
