Welcome to San Diego Met High School!

It is my honor to support the students, families, educators, mentors, and community partners who make up the San Diego Met community. As an educator, I am driven by my belief that our work is about reaching every student every day by designing the learning journey with our students. This means that learning experiences at the Met are personalized to each student’s interests, strengths, and needs. We accomplish this through our 4 Pillars:

  1. Learning by Doing - Students engage in inquiry-based learning that challenges them to explore important questions and concepts, and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. Time is built into each class for students to work, receive personalized feedback, and revise their work to move closer to proficiency.

  2. Advisory - Each student builds community with a small cohort of peers who work with the same advisor over their four years of high school. This combination of trusting relationships and high expectations inspires many students to describe their advisory as a “family.”

  3. Learning Through Interests and Internships (LTI) - Students at the Met benefit from the most extensive internship program of any high school in San Diego, where they learn authentic skills and explore fields of their own interest in the real world, supported by a mentor who is an industry professional.

  4. Postsecondary Preparation - Our partnership with San Diego Mesa College gives every student the chance to experience college-level coursework in actual college classrooms while still in high school. This means our students explore postsecondary pathways and build a transcript of transferable college credits, all for FREE.

My own learning journey as an educator started at the Met in 2013, when I worked as a Special Education Assistant, before becoming the Met’s Internship Coordinator and Business Teacher in 2014. I also had the chance to be an Advisor and to teach Yearbook at the Met, before leaving our district to take on school leadership positions at two other schools. Then, I had the very good fortune to come back to where it all started when I was named Principal of San Diego Met in 2021.

As Principal, my passion and my responsibility is to help create an environment where every member of our community can feel seen and celebrated, can develop a sense of belonging, and can pursue their own greatness. I believe that what we do as a school is unique and precious for every person in our community, and I am fully committed to supporting every person in achieving the promise of the Met - education personalized for and dedicated to “one student at a time.”

I’m happy and excited that I get to be a part of your learning journey. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to support our school.
